What a delight! Enjoyed dinner at the Commercial while cycling the Otago Rail Trail. Terrific classy cosmopolitan menu for a small town. My husband had the salmon and I had Thai curry with a banana on top. Yummy!

We are staying elsewhere but had dinner at Omakau Commercial hotel and the Salmon was perfect! If I lived here, this would be my place of choice. Excellent service from the owners. If you order the sticky date pudding, it's a serving for 2... just saying!😋??'?

Great wee historical pub/cavern with plenty of accommodation, games room, bar and restaurant.
Plenty of outdoor garden space to add and a breakfast room for the early morning departures.
A TV room with a comfy lounge suite for those wishing not to drink in the bar.
Only 100 yards from the central rail trail, so a definite recommendation for those cyclists passing through.
Hosts are great people, friendly and laid back.
Feels like a home from home.
Oh, the menu food is awesome too.
Highly recommend the steak!

New owners Jarrod and Chantel are absolutely lovely and personable. The hotel is a very cute rustic building full of history. We had dinner in the restaurant and the steak was very good and the contenental breakfast had yummy plums which was a great way to start our day. The rooms were clean and each had a neat little note explaining the history of the room. All in all an awesome experience, exactly the atmosphere we were looking for and would recommend.
